Unveils Billboard on Preventive
Actions to Limit Spread of the Flu
The Department of Health will unveil the first of several billboards with preventive actions that residents can take to limit the spread of the 2009 H1N1 flu virus.
Health Commissioner Designee Julia Sheen will join management staff from Tutu Park Mall, which is partnering with the Department to erect the 4ft x 4ft billboard in a visible location, as part of its H1N1 Public Education Campaign.
Sheen said the Department plans to also distribute more than a dozen billboards, ranging from 2ft x 2ft and 4ft x 4ft, for placement at all V.I. entry ports, hospitals and clinics. Posters will also be available for schools and businesses.
The Department’s next phase will focus on vaccines and the recommendation for residents to take both the seasonal flu shot and H1N1 vaccine.
The Food and Drug Administration recently approved the H1N1 vaccine, the bulk of which is expected to be distributed nationwide by mid-October.
