You’d think that every weight loss product in the world would include the calorie deficit principle considering the fact that it’s a requirement for weight loss. Now if these claims were all stated without any references or studies to back it up, then it’d be a bunch of nonsense to me. But Brad Pilon has done his homework and provides over 20 pages of references and scientific studies to reinforce his claims.

The Eat Stop Eat Protocol Includes Realistic Projections

For those of you who have read my past reviews, you know that I’m a stickler for realistic projections. I believe that if you’re looking to lose weight, you should take a long-term, permanent approach. You should be realistic in the fact that you’re probably going to slip up now and then. You should be realistic in the fact that you’re probably not going to lose “12 to 23 pounds of stubborn body fat in just 21 days” like The 3 Week Diet suggests.

Brad Pilon has included a number of realistic projections in his Eat Stop Eat protocol. To begin with, he says that his fasting protocol isn’t anything magical or new. The “secret sauce” is that you that you don’t need to reach a caloric deficit on a daily basis, and you don’t have to give up your favorite foods; this provides a bit of psychological relief to the reader since you’re allowed to eat some of your guilty pleasure foods.

He also reinforces in the book that fasting for 24 hours doesn’t mean that you’re allowed to pig out as soon as it’s time to feast.

So why are realistic projections beneficial for you? Because in order to lose weight, you need to be able to follow a few key habits for a prolonged period of time. Take a look at this study published in the American Journal of Preventive Medicine: For ten years, a group of researchers followed 3000 individuals who successfully lost at least 30 pounds and kept it off for at least one year.
